Former Prime Minister of Norway 1997-2000, 2001-2005. Bondevik founded the Oslo Center in 2006. The purpose of the center is to work for world peace, human rights and inter-religious tolerance world wide.

Former Director of the Women and a Culture of Peace Programme, former Director of the UNESCO Islamabad Office, former Director of the UNESCO Liaison Office Geneva. Served on the National Council for Innovation in Education in Norway, and also on the National Norwegian Commission for UNESCO. Currently serving as vice president of the International Peace Bureau, a Nobel Peace Laureate organization.

Mr. Aye Chan Naing

Founder, Executive director and Chief Editor of the Democratic Voice of Burma radio and TV station, based in Norway. Since 1998, he was involved in documenting human rights violations in Burma and later became the editor for DAWN news bulletin and Burma Focus publication.

Prof. Paul Collier

Renowned economist at the Oxford University. Prof. Paul Collier has been the senior adviser to Blair’s Commission on Africa; has addressed the General Assembly of the UN; and given a seminar at 10 Downing St. Hi is a professor Associate of CERDI, Université d'Auvergne; Fellow of the CEPR, London; and was Director of the Development Research group at the World Bank (1998-2003). He holds a Distinction Award from Oxford University, and has won the Edgar Graham Prize.

President Kim Dae-Jung

Nobel Peace Laureate 2000 and President of South Korea 1998-2003. Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work for democracy and human rights in South Korea and in East Asia in general, and for peace and reconciliation with North Korea in particular.

Prof. Johan Galtung

Principal founder of the discipline of Peace and conflict studies. Helped found TRANSCEND - an activist organization for conflict transformation by peaceful means, as well as the International Peace Research Institute.

 

Ms. Ingeborg Gjærum

Environmentalist. Chair of Nature and Youth, the sole Norwegian environmentalist youth organization.

Mr. Jonathan Granoff

President of the Global Security Institute, and a Senior Advisor of the American Bar Association's Committee on Arms Control and National Security. He is Vice President of the NGO Committee on Disarmament at the United Nations. Granoff chaired the special session on Terrorism and Threats to Humanity at the Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates in Rome in 2004, where he represented the International Peace Bureau, a Nobel Peace Laureate organization.

 

Professor Hassan Hanafi

Professor of philosophy at Cairo University, and a leading authority on modern Islam. Hanafi has acted as an advisor to the InterAction Council, a coalition of 26 former prime ministers and presidents. He is also a member of the Association for Intercultural Philosophy, which encourages a dialogue among philosophers from all over the world.

Mr. Frederic Hauge

Environmental activist, and co-founder and leader of the Bellona Foundation. Hauge appeared on Time Magazine's list of "Heroes of the Environment" October 2007.

 

Mr. Ime Akpan John

Co-President of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, the 1985 Nobel Laureate organization.

Lieutentant General Wolfgang Korte

Korte deployed to Headquaters Kosovo Force, Pristina, as Deputy Commander of Operations 2002-2003. He became Deputy Commander German Army Forces Command in 2004. From January 2005, as Commander German Army Training and Doctrine Command, he was responsible for a wide variety of tasks including further Army concept development and the development and implementation of training concepts. Currently serving as Director of the Joint Warfare Centre.

Prof. Geir Lundestad

Professor of history at the University of Oslo, Director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute, and Secretary of the Norwegian Nobel Committee.

 

Mr. Jake Lynch

Director of the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Sydney. International reporter in television and newspapers. Mr. Jake Lynch is a founding member of the Peace Journalism commission of the International Peace Research Association.

 

Ms. Mairead Maguire

Co-founder of the Community of Peace People, an organization which attempts to encourage a peaceful resolution of the Troubles in Northern Ireland. Co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize 1976.

Ms. Mary Ellen McNish: Representative of the American Friends Service Committee, a Religious Society of Friends (Quaker) affiliated organization which provides humanitarian relief and works for social justice, peace and reconciliation, human rights, and abolition of the death penalty. The organization was the recipient of the 1947 Nobel Peace Prize.

Dr. Ole Danbolt Mjøs

Politician and physician. Rector of the University of Tromsø 1989-95. Currently serves as the Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee.

Dr. Rajendra Pachauri

Economist and environmental scientist. Pachauri has served as the chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change since 2002. He accepted the Nobel Peace Prize 2007 on behalf of the panel. Dr. Pachauri has been awarded the prestigious Padma Bhushan by the Indian government and the ‘Officer of the Legion of Honour’ by the French government.

Dr. Rudolf Rechsteiner

Member of the Swiss national Parliament (Social-democratic Faction) and a member of the Committees for Energy and the Environment and for External Affairs. He is president of SWISSAID. Is engaged in renewable energy investments with a Swiss private cooperative The Adev Energiegenossenschaft. Rechsteiner also works as a free lecturer on energy and environmental policy for various universities and advanced technical colleges. He has published books and essays on energy and on the Swiss Social Security systems.

Spiritual and humanitarian leader. Founder of the international Art of Living Foundation, and a driving force behind the International Association for Human Values.

Mr. Erik Solheim

Politician. Solheim served as special advisor to the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sri Lanka. He went on to become one of the most recognizable figures in the peace negotiations between the Sri Lankan government and the Tamil Tigers. Currently serves as Minister of the Environment, and Minister of Development Cooperation.

President and founder of World Trade Centers Association, a non-profit, non-political association dedicated to the establishment and effective operation of World Trade Centers as instruments for the expansion of world trade.

Prof. Stein Tønnesson

Historian. Tønnesson has worked as Professor of Human Development Studies at the Centre for Development and the Environment (SUM) at the University of Oslo, and has also been a senior research fellow at the Nordic Institute for Asia Studies (NIAS) in Copenhagen. Currently serves as Director of the International Peace Research Institute in Oslo.

 

Ms. Ann Zammit

Economist, journalist, filmmaker. Zammit has worked as a consultant for several international organizations, including the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the United Nations and the Organization of American States. She has also been a development journalist and helped establish the International Broadcasting Trust, a non-profit film production company, for which she researched and/or coproduced television documentary films on global development issues.

 

Prof. Berit Ås

Politician and professor of social psychology. She served in the Norwegian parliament from 1973 to 1977, and led several political campaigns, including Women's International Strike for Peace in 1962, the women's movement against membership in the European Union, and others.
